Petition to Defund the BATFE to
Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and
House Speaker John Boehner

Whereas:     Far too many times over the years, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) has ignored real crimes and criminals to focus on victimizing law-abiding gun owners; and

Whereas:     Going back several decades, the BATFE has a long history of abuse -- including unnecessary violence against innocent men, women and children; and

Whereas:     BATFE harassment of law-abiding gun owners is likely to escalate in the near future as Barack Obama looks to prove to gun-control activist that he is “tough on guns” before the 2012 elections; and

Whereas:     Like any federal government entity, the BATFE’s lifeblood is Congressional funding paid for with the tax dollars of hard-working Americans; and

Whereas:     As House Speaker, you can help end or dramatically cut funding for the BATFE;

Therefore:   As a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment, I urge you to do everything in your power to defund the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
